Pauline Performs "Learning To Be A Fairy" at November 2007's Aroha Handsel Concert

Events 2010:

As their resident storyteller, I'll be storytelling throughout the year at Archaeolink Prehistory Park.  With differently themed weekends between easter and Hallowe'en, Archaeolink really does have something for everyone and this year I've set myself the difficult challenge of fitting my stories to their themes!

See their web page for details of upcoming events and themed weekends.

I was made very welcome again at  the Aberdeen University Storytelling Societywhen I told stories there on the 17th March. They are such a welcoming and relaxed group that it feels so natural to be telling stories amongst them - I wish the society had existed when I studied there!

I will be telling Celtic and Pictish tales at this year's St Ternan's Heritage Fair at Banchory on the 12th June, along with Anna Fancett (GAS Chair) and Lee Ramsay from the Aberdeen University Storytelling Society. We'll be suitably dressed (and maybe painted!) and I'll be bringing some prehistoric crafts with me and my hunters horn with which everyone is welcome to try calling the Taexali tribe to battle!

This years theme of Celts and Picts will see the Museum and Library converted into a Pictish fort and an Iron Age Hill Fort, and there will be many other activities for kids and adults to enjoy. For all the other events taking place at the Fair, see their webpage for more details.

I'll be stepping further back into Prehistory at the end of June for a weekend trip to Callanish and then I thought I'd may as well pop in by Avebury and end the weekend with the solstice at Stonehenge!  After all that history and myth, I think I'll be perfectly inspired to tell stories at the solstice and then... one of my favourite events of the year:

The best thing about the Glastonbury Festival is that there is so much more to discover than the music - leave the main drag heading up towards the Stone Circle and you'll find poetry, art, crafts, wonderful cafes and stalls and many spontaneous, frivolous, crazy goings-on :)  Not forgetting the storytelling of course!  From the 24th to the 27th June, I'm once again looking forward to pulling on my wellies and joining Christine Willison in the Earth Lodge at the Green Futures Field.  In 2007 and 2009 I also told stories at the Kidz field, organised by John Row - and I'm looking forward to a few visits there again this year!

Scottish Natural Heritage are holding their Open Day at the Burn O Vat visitors centre on the 11th July and I'm looking forward to telling some of my favourite stories there as part of the International Year of Biodiversity.  How did the Caledonian Forest survive?  Who was the mysterious Green Man?  Who caused the scourge of Scotland? Join us to find out!  See the SNH web page for more details.

More events will be added as the year goes on, but in the meantime, click here for an archive of what Pauline got up to in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

I've also taken on the role of "web master" for the Grampian Association of Storytellers. For more storytelling events in the North East of Scotland, have a look at their events page.
